Counting The Electrospinning Nano Hemostatic Technology
Hemostasis is an important step of medical cure. The injury and operation of the patient’s liver, spleen or other tissues and organs needed adequate hemostasis. When sudden wound happened in daily life, also needed quick hemostasis. It’s very important to stop bleeding rapidly when having wound acute treatment in the hostile environment of war and complex emergency. This article briefly introduced two electrospinning nano hemostatic technology.

A kind of airflow assisted in situ electrospinning device. It in situ electrospun C5H5NO2 medical adhesive to nanofiber, realized the large area wound of viscera stopping bleeding rapidly.
According to the report of the Phoenix New Media Limited, a multi-disciplinary team which formed by professor Kai Jiang from PLA General Hospital Hepatobiliary Surgery, professor Yunze Long from Qingdao University and researcher Xingyu Jiang from National Nanotechnology Center cooperatively designed a kind of airflow assisted in situ electrospinning device. They used this technology for doing an experiment of live pig liver excision and hemostasis first time internationally.
The results show that this device can in situ electrospin C5H5NO2 medical adhesive to nanofiber. C5H5NO2 medical adhesive is the main ingredient of superglue. The Food and Drug Administration of USA has approved it to be applied to human body hemostasis. Under the guiding of airflow, it deposited precisely and equably on the surface of the wound, formed a compact membrane, realized the large area wound of viscera stopping bleeding rapidly. The related achievements have been published on the periodical Chemistry World of the Royal Society of Chemistry. With new ideas, this technology will dig deep to discover the potential of existing medical hemostatic materials and change their traditional application mode. It’s hopeful of reducing the operation time, cutting the medical cost, improving the safety of the operation, making the hemostasis of surgical resection of substantial organ rapid and reliable in the future, making abandoning traditional hemovac possible.

Experiments proved that the CS-PVP nanofiber has good biocompatibility and excellent hemostatic properties, not only kept the good hydroscopicity and spinnability of PVP material, but also combined the excellent antibacterial hemostasis properties of the CS material, is capable of using for clinically wound surface’s hemostasis. Besides, its manufacture method is simple and quick, high efficiency.
